The City of Visalia General Services Department encompasses a broad range of services provided by four divisions and serves as liaison to the Convention and Visitors Bureau. The department, with 45 full-time employees and approximately 50 hourly employees, includes the following divisions:
The Visalia Municipal Airport is committed to meeting the aviation travel and recreation needs of the community. Visalia Municipal Airport is located five miles west of downtown Visalia, conveniently located near the State Routes 99 and 198. An FAA reliever airport with 192 based aircraft and over 40,000 annual operations, the airport is a transportation hub for all cargo and corporate aircraft activity in the Tulare/Kings county areas. The airport is host to two charter services, a jet and piston engine maintenance facility and a regional air ambulance operation.
The City of Visalia's Transit Division operates numerous mass transit services. Travel conveniently from neighborhoods to major shopping centers, local schools, medical offices, and work sites on Visalia Transit fixed-route. For those who need curb side pick-up and drop-offs, Dial-A-Ride para-transit services can get you there. Visalia Towne Trolley is a fun way to get around Visalia's great Downtown District. Youth can also get from schools to near-by recreation centers via the Loop Bus. And if you are looking to enjoy the majestic Sequoia National Park, the city operates Sequoia Shuttle from Memorial Day Weekend through early September.
